Accountability Without Self-Attack Record

Adaptation

The public framework retains one useful property of the Accountability Mirror: direct observation of a behavior that is not serving a chosen goal.

It removes identity judgment, appearance judgment, public confession, humiliation, pain tolerance, and punishment. The mirror may be metaphorical. A private note is preferred when it better protects privacy and supports later review.

Record structure

FieldFunction
ObservationStates an action, omission, frequency, or result that can be checked
ContextIdentifies clarity, time, access, emotion, resources, and competing needs
ChoiceDefines one small action within the person's control
SupportRecords a person, tool, accommodation, environment, or missing fact
BoundaryNames what the exercise cannot override
ReviewSets a date and records what happened without judging worth

Care boundary

SAMHSA describes trauma-informed systems through safety, trustworthiness and transparency, peer support, collaboration and mutuality, empowerment, voice and choice, cultural and historical awareness, and resistance to retraumatization.

This adaptation is not a clinical intervention. The SAMHSA framework supplies a care lens, not evidence that the exercise treats avoidance or improves mental health.

Public examples stay within low-stakes work and learning. The guide excludes body image, food, exercise, pain, sleep, trauma, self-harm, substance use, medical decisions, abuse, and crisis.

Stop condition

The exercise should stop if it produces repeated shame, panic, compulsion, self-punishment, unsafe escalation, or pressure to ignore care, disability, trauma response, or another person's boundary.
