Ambition and Competition Evidence Record

Operating distinction

Competition is treated as useful when it supplies information, practice, or energy to a goal the person still chooses.

Over-competition is treated as an observable state in which status comparison selects the goal, standard, operating mode, or acceptable damage. It is not a diagnosis.

Review questions

The record restates the goal without a rival, identifies the underlying value, names the information comparison supplies, inspects the metric, records spillover, prices the win, and tests whether the private version remains meaningful.

The operating mode may be mastery, collaboration, exploration, recovery, or competition. Other people’s consent and purpose matter.

Research boundary

Self-determination theory informs questions about autonomous and controlled motivation. Psychological-safety research informs interpersonal-risk questions in teams. Implementation intentions can support a behavioral cue. None of these sources diagnoses a person or proves a universal intervention.

Escalation boundary

Persistent distress, unsafe behavior, health effects, material financial exposure, relationship harm, or inability to stop may require appropriate qualified support.
