Restart sequence

A restart begins by deciding whether the project still matters now. It then closes or discards stale obligations, chooses one observable output, attaches it to a specific trigger and context, removes predictable friction, records the completed work, defines recovery after a miss, and reviews the system after several cycles.

The sequence rejects catch-up debt. Work that was never produced does not have to be recreated before the next useful piece can exist.

Measurement

Measure completed outputs, time and friction, recovery after misses, quality at the chosen floor, and whether the project still serves its current purpose.

Streak length can be descriptive. It should not become the only measure because one interruption can make a useful practice appear worthless.

Evidence boundary

Implementation-intention research supports specific trigger planning. Field and habit-formation research supports testing plans in real contexts over repeated cycles.

The evidence does not establish this eight-stage synthesis as a validated treatment or universal method. E003 is one source-era personal case, not proof of population-level effectiveness.

Constraint boundary

A smaller floor cannot resolve burnout, illness, financial instability, employment conflict, unsafe conditions, or caregiving responsibilities that require changed conditions or qualified support.

The responsible decision may be to continue, redesign, pause, delegate, or end the project.
