Historical claim

E035 records Dalton using NotebookLM in 2024 to work with a selected source set, ask questions, follow citations into source passages, generate study material, and listen to a newly released Audio Overview.

The episode demonstrates a personal workflow, not a controlled learning study.

What the transcript supports

Dalton and a friend uploaded an Army regulation, listened to an audio discussion, asked a question, and opened a cited passage. The generated audio also mispronounced the document identifier, which is direct evidence that source grounding did not eliminate output defects.

Dalton described earlier use for difficult material and imagined applications in education and workplace onboarding. Those are proposed uses, not measured outcomes or authorized institutional deployments.

The transcript called a live join feature unavailable at the time. Current documentation now describes interactive Audio Overviews in English. That later product state must not be written into the original experience.

Corrections required

Source grounding can reduce the open-ended evidence space and provide an inspection path. It does not make an answer hallucination-free, complete, current, pedagogically effective, private, authorized, or suitable for a high-impact decision.

The episode's learning-style language should not be repeated as a scientific claim. Public guidance can offer multiple representations as optional study passes while measuring independent understanding.

The injury account remains historical personal context and is not medical or travel guidance.

The AlphaFold and AlphaProteo discussion remains outside the public product package because it would require separate scientific review.

Historical sources

The raw transcript is the authority for Dalton's experience.

Google's September 2024 Audio Overview launch record establishes that the feature was experimental and could contain inaccuracies.

Current Google Help establishes present product behavior only when dated as a later contrast.
