E117 Published Audio Alignment

This note records a local, read-only comparison between the immutable raw transcript and the public RSS audio. It narrows the review work but does not claim that a person listened through and approved every edit.

Current decision

The published audio and raw transcript are the same underlying conversation, but they are not timestamp-equivalent.

  • The public episode is 43:24, or 2,604 seconds.
  • The raw transcript ends at 46:41.463.
  • The public audio adds a produced opening of about 1:45 before the interview.
  • The edit removes or tightens about five minutes of raw conversation after accounting for the added opening.
  • The final Thank you Dalton matches at 43:22.91 in the public audio.
  • The raw transcript must remain classified as raw_recording until a person verifies the edit boundaries and accepts an aligned transcript.

Local comparison evidence

The public 41,665,096-byte MP3 was read from the enclosure URL in the official Venture Step RSS feed. A local CPU speech pass produced 1,075 timestamped segments without uploading the audio or using an API key.

Audio SHA-256: 5052F7048B54B6151110BCF35B43B6A8EBBD4D48E6073A0D61C60F0DAB1503C0

The normalized raw and public-audio word sequences contained:

MeasureResult
Raw transcript tokens8,333
Public-audio speech tokens8,413
Exact sequential token matches7,789
Sequence match ratio93.0%

The token counts are close because the public episode adds a produced teaser and host introduction while removing and tightening parts of the raw conversation. Speech-recognition errors, especially proper names, account for some unmatched tokens.

Confirmed edit structure

The public episode opens with:

  1. a teaser drawn from Hiten's actuator explanation;
  2. the Venture Step show introduction;
  3. a produced description of Hiten, RISE Robotics, the Guinness record, and the Air Force use case;
  4. the original interview beginning near 01:45.

The comparison found many short tightening edits and one complete long removal:

  • raw 30:17.612 through 31:48.667, covering Dalton's question about the Super Jammer's weight and Hiten's explanation of the 3× safety factor, seven-foot extension, outriggers, and center of gravity.

The raw Were you there when the record was officialized? question resumes at 29:41.85 in the public audio. The crowdfunding discussion, investor-feedback section, closing question, host sign-off, and guest thank-you remain present.

Official published chapter map

These timestamps come from the public RSS episode description and describe the published edit:

TimeConversation
00:00Introduction to RISE Robotics and actuator technology
06:21The evolution of actuator systems
11:01Automation and the future of heavy machinery
15:41Identifying the ideal customer base
20:18Applications in oil and gas and beyond
24:36Revolutionizing munitions handling with the Super Jammer
27:42Understanding six-axis systems and their applications
29:24Efficiency and safety in military operations
29:41The weight and design of the Super Jammer
30:03Achieving a Guinness World Record
32:05The power of hydraulic technology
33:57Crowdfunding: engaging investors and customers
39:21Leveraging investor feedback for growth

The feed chapter map is the authoritative public timing source, but its labels still require a listening check before publication on Venture Step.

Human review remaining

Before changing transcript provenance to published_audio:

  1. listen through the produced opening and confirm its exact wording and speaker attribution;
  2. spot-check every official chapter boundary;
  3. confirm the long removed exchange and the smaller accumulated cuts;
  4. create a separate aligned transcript rather than editing [[E117 Full Transcript]];
  5. verify the aligned ending against the 43:24 public duration;
  6. record the reviewer, date, and evidence in Studio.

No transcript, public page, podcast feed, or Studio record was changed by this comparison.
