Ecommerce Product Falsification Record

An ecommerce candidate should be evaluated as a set of claims that can fail. The core claims concern a real customer problem, observable demand, competitive room, perceivable differentiation, deliverable quality, complete economics, compliant claims, a clear identity, and a downside the business can carry.

Discovery sources fail in different ways. Marketplace listings and reviews are visible after selection and survivorship. Trend tools show relative interest rather than product-level purchase intent. Ad libraries show messages in circulation, not spend or profit. Vendor opportunity scores depend on proprietary estimates. Direct interviews can overstate intent when no purchase is required.

The evaluation should therefore triangulate signals and record their date, region, unit, time window, uncertainty, and alternative explanation. A useful test seeks evidence that would reject the candidate rather than accumulating only favorable observations.

The Amazon fee-estimation workflow supports product-specific fee previews, not profit predictions. The FTC advertising substantiation policy requires a reasonable basis for objective advertising claims before dissemination. The USPTO federal-search guidance says a federal database search is one essential step in a broader clearance process.

The final evidence record should distinguish observed facts, seller inputs, third-party estimates, assumptions, unresolved risks, and rejection conditions.
