Fulfillment by Amazon is a service through which sellers send eligible inventory to Amazon's fulfillment network. Amazon stores units, picks and packs orders, ships them, and handles designated customer-service and returns functions.

The current FBA overview says costs depend on the products sold and services used. It identifies fulfillment and storage costs and routes sellers to the Revenue Calculator. The fee-estimation page supports product-specific comparison of Amazon fulfillment and seller fulfillment using dimensions, weight, category, price, shipping, and cost inputs.

The service does not remove seller responsibility for product selection, sourcing, quality, labeling, compliance, listing accuracy, claims, inventory funding, taxes, account health, and the decision to replenish, discount, remove, or liquidate stock.

The FBA inventory record distinguishes excess, aged, and stranded inventory and describes the Inventory Performance Index as an Amazon measure of inventory performance. Those are platform definitions and tools. They do not independently establish profitability or product quality.

Every public FBA cost statement should be dated and tied to the actual seller account, marketplace, product, dimensions, weight, category, inventory age, service selection, and current terms. A platform marketing page is authoritative for Amazon's description of its program, not for a seller's final economics.
