The claim

A framework helps a person recognize which facts and principles matter when conditions change. A script is stronger when a known sequence must be executed consistently. Good operating systems use each where it fits and define when the operator must escalate.

Evidence and context

In E006, Dalton connects a meditation from The Daily Stoic to his first manager. The manager emphasized ways to frame problems instead of giving step-by-step instructions for every case.

The lesson became useful when a project moved outside its expected path. A person trained only on the sequence could identify the missing step but not decide what to do. A person trained on the purpose, constraints, and decision principles had a better chance of adapting.

This does not make detailed procedures inferior. It identifies the limit of a procedure written for conditions that no longer hold.

The strongest counterpoint

Many tasks should not be improvised. Safety checks, regulated notices, financial controls, emergency response, and repeatable production work depend on explicit procedures. Calling everything a judgment problem can create inconsistency and hide weak training.
