Lost Device Recovery Record
Dalton's Pixel Buds Pro 2 earbuds went missing after he had used them several times. He still had the case. He checked Find My Device, saw component entries and changing location information, searched his room, bags, garage, car, outdoor areas, and the gym's lost and found, and could not determine whether the earbuds were misplaced or taken.
This is one October 2024 recovery attempt. It does not establish theft, current Find Hub behavior, product-wide failure, or the frequency of similar incidents.

Google's current documentation says Pixel Buds Pro 2 and Pixel Buds 2a can use Find Hub for disconnected finding after proper enrollment. It describes map locations and sound for the case or earbuds under supported conditions.
That current behavior should be explained as a later product state. It must not be used to claim Dalton missed an available 2024 step unless dated release evidence establishes it.
Design lesson
The map needs to tell the user what it knows. A useful state names the component, timestamp, evidence source, connection state, and confidence. “Updated now” can mislead when the phone, case, or app refreshed but the missing component did not provide new evidence.
Recovery is part of the product. Enrollment, state clarity, privacy, support, and replacement should be designed before the user loses anything.
