Meta AI Distribution and Model Boundary
Meta AI is an assistant product distributed across applications, the web, standalone software, and devices. It is not identical to one Llama model or one hardware product.
In April 2024 Meta described Meta AI built with Llama 3 across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, the web, and Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses in the United States. It said Meta AI was coming to Quest, which is different from general Quest integration at that date.
In April 2025 Meta launched a standalone Meta AI app built with Llama 4 and made it the companion app for AI glasses.
In 2026 Meta introduced Muse Spark as a product-focused model for Meta AI. By July it described Muse Spark 1.1 powering planning, connected apps, slide creation, and task handling in the app and on meta.ai.
The E014 assistant forecast partially resembles later product behavior, but it was not a documented Llama 4 release commitment. Product, model, account, connector, action authority, data access, and rollout must remain separate.
