Product loop

Meta's launch page says a user can start from an idea or existing media, change visuals and style, add music, remix a video from the feed, publish to Vibes, send it to friends, or cross-post to Facebook and Instagram surfaces.

The important product choice is the closed loop. Generation is not only an authoring tool. It supplies a recommendation feed, and the feed supplies material for more generation.

Meta's current Meta AI app record describes a broader assistant surface with memory, voice, personalization, a discovery feed, and connections across Meta products. Vibes sits inside that larger account and recommendation environment.

Supply, remixing, and attribution

Generated media can reduce the time required to create variations, but Vibes content is not literally costless or infinite. Compute, access, prompting, source rights, moderation, policy, distribution, and viewer attention remain constraints.

Remixing also creates an attribution problem larger than identifying the account that pressed publish. A viewer may need to understand source media, model generation, prompt or edit lineage, music, previous remixes, and the current uploader.

The Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity develops the C2PA Content Credentials specifications for recording media origin and edit history. C2PA's own explainer says provenance can be incomplete and does not prove that an asset is true. A credential is evidence about history, not a quality score or rights clearance.

Meta says its supported platforms display "AI info" labels when the company detects industry signals or receives creator disclosure. Its policy record also explains that labels add context while separate content rules still apply. Meta labeling approach

Privacy and personalization

Meta's Privacy Policy includes interactions with Meta AI and related metadata among information it may process for providing, improving, and personalizing products. Vibes adds feed-specific data such as items viewed, engagement, prompts, uploaded media, remixes, sharing, and cross-product activity according to the applicable feature and policy.

Meta announced Incognito Chat for private AI conversations in 2026, but that mode is not a blanket privacy promise for a public creation and recommendation feed. A user must distinguish a temporary chat from a draft, post, remix, direct share, or cross-post.

Episode 84 context

Dalton Anderson demonstrated an early Vibes feed in E084 and called it "AI slop." His concern was not only quality. It was the possibility that generation could supply an endless engagement surface without the same human production constraint as a creator feed.

The durable question is more precise: does the product help a person create and understand media, or does generation mainly remove the point where the feed would otherwise run out?

Evidence boundary

Meta's sources establish its product description, sharing paths, privacy representations, and labeling approach. They do not establish how much content users produce, whether the feed improves or harms well-being, whether every item carries complete provenance, or how a specific person's recommendations behave.
