OpenAI GPT-4o Role Record

OpenAI's current about page describes the organization as an AI research and deployment company. It says OpenAI consists of the nonprofit OpenAI Foundation and the for-profit OpenAI Group, with the Foundation governing the Group.

For E016, the relevant role is narrower. OpenAI developed GPT-4o, published the May 2024 model and ChatGPT launch records, released the system card, managed the product rollout, and later announced ChatGPT retirement. Current API documentation remains the authority for the API model's documented state.

The company, model, ChatGPT product, API, voice product, and later image or realtime systems must not be collapsed into one entity. A model demonstration is not the same as product access, and a ChatGPT retirement is not automatically an API shutdown.
