Audience is an architecture decision

A private assistant may serve one person with private drafts. A team assistant adds shared sources, access control, and organizational accountability. A public persona adds strangers, bystanders, identity, discoverability, moderation, abuse, support, and public records.

The same model and instructions can therefore produce very different risk.

Identity

Record who created the system, who it represents, whether the represented person or organization consented, how AI use is disclosed, and what the system must never imply. A visual avatar, voice, biography, or creator connection can increase the chance that a user mistakes generated speech for an authorized statement.

Data

Map prompts, profile information, connected content, location, logs, human review, vendor improvement, partner access, retention, export, and deletion. Include people mentioned in a prompt who never agreed to interact with the system.

Moderation and care

Define prohibited uses, age and geography boundaries, automated and human moderation, reporting, response time, appeal, escalation, incident notification, and shutdown. Public companionship or professional-advice framing requires special caution.

Scope choices

The viable choices are not only private or public. A system may remain personal, be shared with named testers, be limited to an organization, face a restricted audience, be made public, or not launch.

Release rule

Public reach is not evidence of product readiness. Launch requires an accountable owner, current platform review, identity and consent review, privacy and security review, moderation coverage, support, logging, incident response, deletion, and a tested shutdown path.
