Referral as Transferred Trust Record

Operating thesis

A referral transfers part of the referrer's reputation to the service provider. Customers are more able to make that transfer when delivery produces observable evidence about scope, reliability, communication, recovery, and fit.

Good work does not guarantee referrals. The customer must remember the provider, recognize a relevant situation, feel permitted to share, and believe the introduction will not harm either party.

E001 case

James Carpenter attributes important growth to performing well, maintaining relationships, and receiving recommendations within a trust-based service market.

The interview does not provide a controlled referral analysis or prove that every project, customer, or service category behaves the same way.

Research boundary

Service and word-of-mouth research supports links among received referrals, quality perceptions, trust, and relational exchange in studied settings.

The evidence does not justify purchased reviews, undisclosed incentives, public customer attribution without consent, or promises that a referral program will produce growth.

Public use

Ask what evidence a satisfied customer can accurately and safely repeat. Preserve consent, confidentiality, and the difference between a private introduction and a public endorsement.
