Resistance Diagnosis and Change Research Note

Resistance should begin as an observation, not a motive diagnosis. The record should separate the behavior, business impact, request, response history, and unknowns.

The Venture Step constraint map tests priority, value, capacity, history, authority, risk, trust, workflow cost, capability, incentive, and decision rights. It is a synthesis for inquiry, not a validated personality test.

Empirical studies associate change reactions with employee-management relationships, participation, anticipated impact, job security, voice, organizational support, and readiness. The studies use different sectors, samples, and measures. They do not prove that any one factor explains a specific person's behavior.

A bounded trial can convert abstract disagreement into workflow evidence. Define the current task, claimed improvement, participants, support, duration, success measure, exceptions, and decision date. A trial should not be used to bypass a policy, conceal a predetermined decision, or shift unresourced work onto participants.

Stop the diagnostic route when the issue involves serious conduct, threats, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, coercion, fraud, safeguarding, or another formal obligation. Do not ask for private medical, family, or protected information to explain resistance.
