Tokyo Rail Journey Framework

Journey principle

Track operator, line, station number, direction, fare medium, transfer gate, destination exit, and accessibility path as separate decisions.

Trip record

DecisionRecord
DestinationStation, operator, line, station number, exit
OriginStreet entrance and operator
DirectionNamed terminal or downstream stations
FareCurrent ticket, IC card, or supported contactless path
TransferStation, lines, gate, allowed interval, walking path
ProgressStation numbers and displays inside the train
ExitGate, exit number, street landmark
AccessibilityLive station path, elevator, construction, assistance

Recovery

At the wrong entrance, stop before paying and find the intended operator and line.

At the wrong platform, leave the train plan intact and switch to the direction shown by station numbers or termini.

After a missed stop, exit at the next safe station and recalculate.

At a fare problem, use the fare-adjustment machine or ask staff.

At the wrong exit, use the station map rather than walking farther while uncertain.

Boundary

Tokyo includes Tokyo Metro, Toei, JR, private railways, buses, through-services, and exceptions. One operator's rule cannot establish the whole network.

Current operator sources control fares, transfer details, accessibility, disruptions, and station layout.
