What the Recovered E014 Source Can and Cannot Establish

Venture Step E014 examined Meta Quest 3, Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, Meta's AI characters, and a forecast about assistants that could coordinate work. The recovered source preserves that planned argument. It does not preserve a timestamped transcript of the published audio.

The file combines a production outline with a long drafted monologue. That makes it useful, but it changes what can be attributed to Dalton Anderson and what must remain a source-era plan.

The planned episode argument

The source connected three interface layers. Quest 3 placed digital content inside a spatial view. Ray-Ban Meta put cameras, speakers, microphones, and voice access into an ordinary-looking wearable. Meta's AI characters suggested assistants distributed through familiar messaging products.

Dalton's durable question was what happens when software can perceive more of a user's surroundings and respond with less friction.

That idea still matters. More context can make an assistant useful, but it also expands the privacy, consent, security, accuracy, and action boundary.

What Meta had released

Meta launched Quest 3 in October 2023. Its launch record described full-color passthrough, spatial understanding, pancake optics, hand tracking, and a $499.99 starting price for the 128GB version.

Meta launched Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses that same month. The company described camera, open-ear audio, voice controls, livestreaming, and Meta AI beta at a $299 starting price.

Those are dated vendor claims and launch prices. They are not current shopping guidance and do not prove comfort, productivity, privacy, accessibility, or fit for one person's work.

What the AI characters could do

Meta announced 28 AI character profiles in September 2023. The characters had distinct personas and, in some cases, public-figure embodiments.

The E014 source explored them and imagined an assistant that could coordinate specialized agents. The reviewed launch material supports conversational experiences inside Meta products. It does not establish that the characters could independently make appointments, order groceries, contact one another, or manage a person's day.

Those were forecasts, not product facts.

Quest 3 and Llama 3 were not one release

In April 2024 Meta described Meta AI built with Llama 3 across its applications, the web, and Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses in the United States. It said Meta AI was coming to Quest.

That is different from saying Quest 3 and the glasses were both already generally integrated with Llama 3 when E014 was planned.

The product, assistant, model, account, region, and rollout need separate dates.

The Llama 4 forecast

The source predicted that Llama 4 would focus on autonomous coordination. The reviewed pre-release sources do not show Meta making that commitment.

Meta's actual Llama 4 launch arrived in April 2025 with Scout and Maverick. The launch emphasized native multimodality, mixture-of-experts architecture, long context, model access, and vendor benchmark claims.

Later Meta AI products added more agent-like planning and action, but by 2026 Meta described a different model line, Muse Spark, as powering those experiences. The product direction partly resembled the forecast. The model history did not.

The personal observations

The source says a headset could replace a multi-monitor desk for Dalton's use. That is a personal comparison, not a buying recommendation.

The result depends on the exact work, applications, display clarity, comfort, motion sensitivity, input, battery, organizational policy, accessibility, and recovery. A different person may reach the opposite conclusion.

The source also discussed a Codec Avatars conversation. That was a research demonstration using specialized capture, not a phone-scan feature available to ordinary Quest 3 owners.

What remains unknown

Without the published recording, the source cannot establish which scripted passages Dalton read, how he qualified the forecasts, or which demonstrations he described live.

It does not establish a controlled product evaluation, legal consent analysis, security review, health use, market outcome, or prediction that Apple would lose a headset market.

The maintained product profiles own current entity facts. This page owns the E014 source boundary. A recovered recording or reconciled transcript could support a later dated retrospective without changing what the preserved file is.

The durable reading

The most defensible E014 insight is not a product prediction. It is a trust rule. As an assistant gains visual, audio, spatial, personal, and connected-app context, the evaluation must expand beyond answer quality.

The wearer needs useful controls and reliable recovery. Nearby people need understandable notice and respect for objections. Organizations need authority, data, security, retention, accessibility, and action boundaries.
