Andy Ellwood and Stretch Evidence Research Note

Question

Which current person, company, legal, product, and historical claims can Venture Step publish about Andy Ellwood and Stretch, and which claims need attribution or exclusion?

What current sources establish

Andy Ellwood's current homepage identifies him as founder and CEO of Stretch and links to the company's public domain. His LinkedIn route is a current professional destination, although the platform returned an automated-access status during research and should not control material company claims.

Stretch's website identifies the service as an AI-powered grocery list maker and names Stretch Collective Inc. in the footer. Its terms, effective September 1, 2025, say the legal agreement is with Stretch Collective Inc. and provide a New York mailing address. The current US App Store listing identifies Stretch Collective as developer and Stretch Collective Incorporated as seller.

The website describes list scanning, local-store tracking, learned list behavior, and price and location results. The App Store lists the product as “Stretch: Save on Groceries,” free, and only for iPhone on the reviewed US page. The terms describe list building and price comparison but warn that retailer and manufacturer data can be wrong, incomplete, or expired.

The terms say Stretch may have financial relationships with listed businesses and may earn commissions from purchases. The privacy policy permits collection and use of detailed shopping, purchase, loyalty, location, device, demographic, preference, budget, and income information.

Historical claims

Ellwood's founder history lists Basket from April 2014 through December 2019 and labels it acquired. It describes Basket as a smart shopping list for grocery price transparency and claims weekly savings above 30 percent.

The transcript says Basket raised $20 million, helped 650,000 families, crowdsourced 118,000 stores, and held two million products. These are attributed interview claims. Current research did not independently verify each figure, financing record, or the acquisition description.

Uncertainty and prohibited inference

Do not infer current Stretch savings, coverage, user counts, retailer relationships, funding, Android availability, price accuracy, or internal architecture from the transcript or promotional language. Do not use the company, brand, app, developer label, and every possible legal entity as interchangeable records.

The current evidence does not establish a founding date, capitalization, ownership, security audit, or independent accuracy result. Product and privacy pages are company statements, not third-party assessments.

Editorial use

Use this note for [[Andy Ellwood Guest Profile]], [[Stretch Company Profile]], [[Stretch Product Profile]], and the E099 public drafts. Identify Ellwood as founder and CEO based on his current site. Use Stretch Collective Inc. as the current company name established by the website and terms, while preserving the App Store seller wording.

Attribute historical Basket and product-performance claims. Treat current website and App Store capabilities as public product descriptions. Date policy, version, platform, and leadership claims and refresh them before publication.
