Podcast Production Operating Model Note

A podcast episode is a controlled lifecycle, not a media file. The durable states are proposed, booked, ready, recorded, edited, approved, published, distributed, and archived.

Each state needs one owner, one authoritative source, an entry condition, an exit condition, evidence, and a recovery path. The host retains the judgments that define the show. Repeatable production and coordination can move to a producer, editor, publisher, assistant, or bounded agent.

The raw recording and raw transcript remain immutable sources. Edits, cleaned transcripts, descriptions, clips, and public pages are derivatives. Approval applies to the exact final artifact, not merely the project that produced it.

The system improves when host hands-on time, rework, missed deadlines, unresolved questions, and source-integrity failures decline without reducing guest care or editorial depth.
