Veo 3.1

Veo 3.1 is Google DeepMind's generative video model for text- and image-conditioned creation with audio. Google distributes Veo through consumer, creative, developer, workspace, cloud, and enterprise channels rather than through one enterprise-only product.

Availability, limits, price, resolution, duration, and feature access depend on the current channel, region, account, and model variant.

Current channels

Google's current Veo page routes users to Gemini, Flow, Google Vids, Google AI Studio, the Gemini API, and an enterprise agent platform.

The Veo 3.1 Lite model card lists text and image inputs and distribution through the Gemini API, AI Studio, Google Cloud, Flow, and Workspace. The card also documents the vendor's Lite-versus-Fast evaluation sample sizes and win rates.

Creative workflow

Google introduced Flow as a filmmaking tool built around Veo, Imagen, and Gemini. The launch record described reference ingredients, camera controls, scene building, asset management, and a showcase where creators could inspect prompts.

Later Veo 3.1 and Flow updates added more control and audio support across editing features. These are first-party product descriptions and can change.

Capability and evaluation

Google describes Veo 3.1 as supporting video with audio, prompt adherence, creative control, consistency, and physically plausible results. The public page includes first-party preference comparisons.

The practical unit of comparison is also larger than the model. A creator may care about reference handling, scene extension, asset organization, editing, collaboration, export, and access governance. Dalton Anderson contrasted Veo with Sora 2 in Episode 88. He presented Veo as a careful enterprise production product and Sora as a social product.

The underlying strategic contrast remains useful, but Veo's distribution is broader than the episode stated. It reaches individual users, creative teams, developers, workspace customers, cloud users, and enterprise contexts through different surfaces.
