Today on Venture Step, we're exploring Microsoft's AI-powered Copilot and OpenAI's revolutionary conversational AI feature. Let's dive in! Host Intro: "Before we dive in, I'm Dalton. My background is a mix: of programming and data science, and insurance. Offline, you might find me running, building my side business, or lost in a good book. You can listen to the podcast in video or audio format on YouTube and listen to the audio on Apple Podcast. Segment 1: Introduction Briefly introduce the topic of the episode: Microsoft's Copilot announcement and OpenAI's conversational AI featur. Explain that you'll be discussing the implications of these advancements and doing a live demo of OpenAI's conversational AI Segment 2: Microsoft Copilot+ PCs Discuss Microsoft's recent announcement of Copilot, a new AI-powered tool for Windows users 58% Faster: Microsoft claims that Copilot+ PCs with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite chip are up to 58% faster than M3-powered MacBook Airs. This is a significant performance claim, though real-world usage and specific workloads will vary. 40+ TOPS: The Snapdragon X Elite chip boasts over 40 TOPS (trillion operations per second), indicating a powerful AI processing capability for on-device AI tasks. Native Arm64 Apps: Copilot+ PCs run native Arm64 versions of popular apps like Microsoft 365, Chrome, Spotify, Zoom, and Adobe products, potentially offering better performance and efficiency compared to emulation on Mac. Battery Life: Up to 30 Hours: While not directly compared to MacBooks, Microsoft emphasizes the long battery life of up to 30 hours on Copilot+ PCs. This could be a significant advantage for users on the go. AI Capabilities: Local AI Processing: This is a key differentiator for Copilot+ PCs. The AI capabilities are handled on the device itself, potentially leading to faster response times and enhanced privacy compared to cloud-based AI on some MacBooks. Photo Editing & Live Captions: Copilot+ PCs offer AI-powered photo editing tools and live captions, features that are either unavailable or less integrated on MacBooks. Pricing: Starting at $1,249: Microsoft's Surface Pro 9 with 5G and the Snapdragon X Elite chip starts at $1,249. This is comparable to the base price of the 13-inch MacBook Air M3. Corrections and boundaries

Copilot+ PC was a Windows device category, not a rebranding of ChatGPT. Microsoft products used OpenAI models in some experiences, but Microsoft Copilot, Windows features, device hardware, and ChatGPT were not interchangeable products.

The episode's device-performance, battery, and price statements were source-era vendor comparisons with specific configurations and test conditions. They are not current buying advice and should not be repeated without a fresh device-level comparison.

Recall's architecture and rollout changed after the May 2024 announcement. Current Microsoft documentation describes an opt-in preview with local processing, encrypted storage, Windows Hello protection, filters, deletion controls, and device requirements. Those later controls do not erase the historical concern or prove that Recall is appropriate for every personal, workplace, or regulated environment.

GPT-4o was announced on May 13, 2024. OpenAI's source-era product record distinguished existing ChatGPT voice conversations from the newer GPT-4o audio and video capabilities planned for later rollout. The episode's live demo should not automatically be described as the fully released GPT-4o speech-to-speech system.

OpenAI states that Sky used another professional actor, was cast before outreach to Scarlett Johansson, and was paused after concerns were raised. The episode's stronger claim that OpenAI trained the voice on Johansson without permission is not established by the reviewed sources.

The episode does not establish that a generated list of companies was accurate, that voice translation was reliable enough for consequential use, or that AI product announcements caused a particular stock move.

Editorial decisions

The canonical package will center two boundaries. A device feature that remembers more of a person's screen needs a data, security, user, and organizational evaluation. A humanlike voice needs clear identity, consent, task, and failure boundaries.

The package uses a source-limited episode record rather than a fabricated Episode Story. A recovered recording or verbatim transcript would support a later dated retrospective, but the current page remains publishable only if editorial review confirms that it never presents the outline or legacy reconstruction as exact speech.
